Kumar Shah, M.D.
Founder, President & Chief Clinical Researcher
Kumar Shah, M.D., is the Founder, President, and Chief Clinical Researcher of Endocrine Technology, LLC and its spin-off biotechnology company ETBONDAI Private Limited. He is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism, and is the 100% owner and principal inventor behind the company’s intellectual property portfolio. With more than 30 years of experience in both life sciences and the biotechnology industry, Dr. Shah has built a dual-competency foundation that spans clinical medicine, immunology, endocrine research, and translational biotechnology.
Dr. Shah’s career began as an executive in the Clinical Research Division of Roche Products, Mumbai (1973–1974), where he directed early pharmaceutical research programs. After relocating to the United States, he joined Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, NY (1978–1981) as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Steroid Research Division, collaborating with oncologists on chemotherapy protocols. During this time, he also came in contact with Dr. Rosalyn Yalow, Nobel laureate for radioimmunoassay, who allowed him to take basic training in radioimmunoassay and provided guidance for future research. His subsequent training included an Endocrinology fellowship at the VA Hospital, East Orange, NJ, and an Internal Medicine residency at Brooklyn Hospital.
Since 1984, Dr. Shah has served as a Senior Attending Physician at Brooklyn Hospital and has maintained a consulting practice in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. His clinical practice has supported the infrastructure, laboratory operations, and patent development of Endocrine Technology since its formation.
Dr. Shah operated a New York State–compliant Radioimmunoassay Laboratory (1986–2004) under CLIA regulations, providing diagnostic endocrine testing and supporting translational research. He also served as a volunteer consultant in the establishment of the Cell Transplant Laboratory at the Institute of Kidney Diseases, Ahmedabad, under the leadership of Dr. H. L. Trivedi (1994–1996).
Dr. Shah’s work centers on controlled modulation of the complement system, specifically Factor H and Factor D, and the development of polysulfone-based immune modulation technologies. His inventions span encapsulated cell devices, islet transplantation machinery, and polymer-based immune therapies.
